What Are You Paying For?

Spending a lot of money on something expensive is difficult. Before deciding against it, ask yourself what exactly you'll pay for.

Let's look at keyboards, as I recently bought an ergonomic split keyboard for over 400€.

That is a lot of money for a keyboard. But I also have major wrist problems. After a long coding session, they become almost unusable. And I am only 24 years old. I don’t want to quit a career that hasn't even started.

What did I pay for? I paid for a future, where my wrists don’t hurt. A future where I don’t have to switch careers, because of health issues. I invested in myself and my health. All that for a measly ~400€. And I got a keyboard with it. It was an obvious choice.

When a price seems very high, don’t only think about the product, but also its possible impact. The price might be worth it or even appear cheap afterward.
