Preferring Adulthood

I can't say that I miss being a child. Looking back, I lived a boring life. Comparing today with 15 years ago shows me how much better I'm off now.

I might've had fewer things to care about back then. Not because there were fewer things to worry about but because I didn't know about them. Ignorance might be bliss, but not towards everything.

Today, only two things are holding me back: The law and money. Outside of that, I am free to do what I want.

I can go where I want without needing permission. I can eat what I want without depending on someone else. If I wanted to, I could be a child and be childish.

I can decide for myself.

I've discovered so many fascinating topics to dive into. I learned so many lessons, good and bad. None of this would have been possible for me as a child.

I finally have a feeling that I know what I'm doing and what I want to be.

There are taxes. There's death lurking. There are a lot of things to worry about and to dislike. But for me, it is a worthy price to pay.
