Sometime at the end of last year, it clicked. Once a week, I had to get up at 6 a.m., and it was always quite a hassle. So why not do it every day and get used to it?
So that's what I did. I started going to bed at 9:30 p.m. and woke up at 6 in the morning. Even when I was getting to bed later, I woke up shortly after 6. It doesn't matter if it's a holiday or a weekend. I try to keep that sleep schedule.
But was the only reason for waking up so early to have an easier time waking up for work? Turns out, there was more to it.
Not only do I now prefer waking up at 6, but I also discovered the time before noon to be my most productive. I could get everything I want or need to do out of my way and do whatever else during the rest of the day.
This way, I could go to bed in the evening with the satisfaction of being productive that day. It was perfect for the amount of work I aspire to do.
Also, being early is almost always a good thing. Even if class starts at 9, I could take my time doing my morning routine. By doing this, there was no need to stress myself because of the fear of being late.
And sleeping longer on weekends doesn't even make sense to me. If you don't have an overfilled schedule, why make life harder for yourself? Use the time you have.
I realize that it's nothing special. Yet I am the only person I am aware of who's doing something like this. At least from the people my age.
Nothing in life is perfect. My body always wakes up around 6. Even if I come home late at night, I'll wake up shortly after 6. That's good and bad because I'm up as usual but lacking sleep.
Because of that, sometimes I need to go to bed even earlier. That can be challenging, especially during summer, when the days are longer.
Sleeping over at someone's place can also be problematic if you are like me and don't want to wake anyone up. And I love dropping things when I try to be quiet in the morning, as it seems, so there's that.
Changing my sleep schedule increased the amount of work I'm doing and improved my quality of life. Why not give it a try?
